Nematode:

Soil borne plant pests also known as “hair worms” or “roundworms”

Nematode
Many different species of nematodes affect plants. One of the most destructive is the sugar beet cyst nematode. Great amounts of effort have been invested in breeding nematode resistant sugar beet varieties, but breeders have been met with little success.

A commonly used management strategy for controlling nematodes in sugar beet cultivation involves rotating sugar beets with nematode resistant intercorps. Pesticides exist that combat nematodes, which are known as “nematocides”.
